JP's tattoo journey began at just 12 years old in Havana, Cuba, where tattooing was illegal. Driven by his passion for art, he sought out mentors at 16 to learn the craft. In 2006, he arrived in the U.S. with no money and no knowledge of English, starting his professional tattoo career two years later.

Despite challenges like homelessness and job loss, JP’s dedication never wavered. Within a decade, he became a multi-award-winning artist, with his black-and-grey work featured in magazines, online channels, and top tattoo social media accounts. JP now leads the team at JP Alfonso Studios in Norcross, Georgia—one of the top-rated tattoo shops in Atlanta. Clients travel from across Georgia, the United States, and internationally to work with him on custom realism pieces.
